Every makeup lover has an opinion on blush. You’re either a fan or you stick to bronzer. Personally, I’m usually on the bronzed side of the fence. I’ve tried many blushers in my time and I always end up starting over in a rage because I look like a sad clown.
Alas! I have found a pretty blush. L’Oreal’s ‘Life’s a Peach’ has been around for a few months now and I decided to take the plunge into peachy goodness! I bought this as part of a 3 for 2 deal. It does retail for £8.99 at Boots which is on the higher-end of the scale for drugstore blushers, but all-in-all, it’s not badly priced.
I’ve been testing this out for a about a week now. I’ve tried this with both daytime and glam looks, here’s what I thought!
This blush is a universally-flattering shade, delivering a gorgeous bronze-peach shade. It has a slight shimmer, which I don’t usually like but, I don’t notice a lot of shimmer when I apply it. It definitely gives more of a stunning soft glow. Like you’ve been in the sun, and not looking like your mam just told your boyfriend your most embarrassing secret.
The blush is a decent size, quite similar to your average bronzing compact. There’s a lot of product but it won’t take up a lot of room in your makeup bag either. It also has a cute imprint of peaches on the pan, which is a nice touch. Peaches are really having a moment now and thankfully this isn’t one of those products with an overpowering scent. It has a nice, subtle smell and it honestly smells DE-LIC-IOUS – not even being dramatic.
I used my Morphe E4 brush, an angled contour brush, to apply the blush to the apples of my cheeks. Right off the bat, it’s not too noticeable to begin with but it’s definitely build-able. Personally, I like this better because it’s easier to control how much blush you’re applying. It didn’t take long for me to build the blush to the shade I wanted it to be, a subtle glow. For a first impression, I’m definitely a fan.
Hit or Miss?
An absolute hit! My skin looks bright and awake with this blush, I can see how this would look lovely on every skin tone. It’s such a lovely shade/tone.
This blush has definitely barged its way into my makeup routine, it’s a versatile product and works with so many looks. I would 100% recommend this blush to anyone and everyone. I think the only thing you could probably complain about with this is the lack of pigment, it does take a few layers before you see the glow on your cheeks. Having said that though, the beauty of that is, you can have a custom shade each time you use it. Regardless of that, I’m officially a blush lover!
