July Beauty Buys: Morphe Galore at Beauty Bay!

Hi guys!

So, a couple of days ago it was announced that my beloved Beauty Bay is parting ways with everyone’s favourite, Morphe. Initially, I was most upset because it’s so easy to order from Beauty Bay but then I read ‘discount’ and I was like, HELLO.

I haven’t personally dabbled into Morphe’s makeup, so I didn’t have a lot to go off apart from the rave reviews from almost every Youtuber with an affliate code. I do own a lot of their brushes though and they are pretty decent, I wasn’t worried about quality issues.

Eyeshadow: There wasn’t a lot to choose from since a lot of the stock has already sold out and they haven’t replaced it for obvious reasons. But the first thing I found was their 350 35 Colour Nature Glow palette which has been on my list for a while now. The palette arrived undamaged and ever so pretty! I don’t believe you can ever have too many warm-neutral toned shadows, and there’s enough of them to create both day and nighttime looks. The shadows all swatched really well, none of them were chalky. While it’s a big palette, it has pretty much everything you’d need.

This usually retails for £23.00 however, I paid £17.00 with the discount.

Primer: I also bought, which was totally unrelated and not in the sale, Milani’s eyeshadow primer. This was rated quite well on Beauty Bay and for £8.00, you can’t complain. It’ll be interesting to see how this works against my holy grail, Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Highlighter: I have wanted this highlighter for so long! These shades are all great, except ‘BehBeh Gurl’ which is the lightest shade. I’m not sure if I got a bad batch, but this shade was really chalky and disappeared when I tried to apply it. The other shades were great though, and I’ll be able to use the darker shades for shimmer eye shadows. I bought the Babe in Paradise highlight palette for £24.00.

Setting Spray: I have seen this setting spray all over Youtube and when I saw this in the sale, I knew I had to try it. I really love the continuous mist, over the pump sprays with other setting sprays. You can feel the extra coverage you’re getting without your face being damp, it also feels fresh and light. I paid £12.00 for this, it usually retails for £15.00.

Their sale is still online now, so be sure to get involved here! What are your opinions of Morphe? Do you like it or is it over-hyped? Let me know in the comments below!

July Birchbox Subscription Unboxing: First Impressions

Hi guys!

So, subscription boxes are everywhere it seems. Whether it’s beauty, grooming or even clothing, there’s a subscription for everything. Beauty boxes are ideal for new makeup artists to help build their kit, but also for beauty collectors like us. Birchbox advertises their boxes for £10 a month, which is one of the cheaper boxes on the market, however, Birchbox is very highly rated.

My box arrived this month and it was a super cute, pastel pink and yellow watercolour box. Inside, I had the usual 5 products which were a mixture of full-sized and luxe size. I received two makeup pieces this month, both of them were full sized.

birchbox july

  1. The first product was an eyeshadow/blush by Manna Kadar Beauty, this is a gorgeous deep peach colour which swatched beautifully. It’s a little bit too dark for my skin tone however it would look beautiful on someone with a deeper skin tone. It also has a slight shimmer to it, with some MAC Fix+ this would look stunning on the eye!
  2. The next makeup product I got was an Eyeko London Fat Eye Stick in ‘Satin’. Now, I don’t usually use cream or stick shadows so I’m always apprehensive about trying these out. When I swatched this initially it looks really pretty, a metallic taupe with lots of pigment and shimmer. However, once I blended this in, I lost a lot of the pigment which is a shame but I’m guessing you can build up the pigment again.
  3. Moving onto skincare, I received the What’s in it for me..? Shower Scrub. This was a luxe sized exfoliant, and oh my god it smells amazing! It has a sweet orange and jasmine scent which is really fresh and perfect for this time of year.
  4. Next in my box was the Balance Me Congested Skin Serum, this was rated 4+ stars on Birchbox’s website so I was super excited when this arrived. It is ideal for blemishes, breakouts or breakout prone skin. The serum works to balance skin and refine your pores. Skincare is something I want to do more, I have a super basic skincare routine and would love to branch out. Subscription boxes are a perfect way to test different things out and work out which product works for you.
  5. The last thing in my box was the BeautyPro Under Eye Mask. This mask is a hydrogel patch with marine collagen, infused with soothing green tea, aloe vera and vitamins A and E, it is designed to leave you bright-eyed and de-puffed. I live for sheet masks so I’m excited to test this out.

I am definitely pleased with my box this month, however, if I wish I could have been sent more makeup products but I can’t really complain with what I received. I can’t wait to see what I get next month.

If you could make your own subscription box, what would be in it? Comment down below!
